Peter Cattaneo (The Rocker) has signed on to direct Gross National Happiness, a film about golfing in Bhutan, for National Geographic Films.
According to Variety, National Geographic is financing the movie through its partnership with Imagenation Abu Dhabi.

Bhutan Times Editor Gopilal Acharya has been longlisted for the Man Asian Literary Prize 2009 for his debut novel With a Stone in My Heart.

First of its kind opened

Bhutan’s first private college, the Royal Thimphu College, has been opened today. It was opened by Her Majesty the Royal Grandmother. Over 300 students have enrolled with the college. 56 percent of the students are girls.
